Set in the picturesque countryside surroundings of Lisvane, this project saw Atlantic Construction create a beautiful new-build home that blends both traditional and contemporary styling with smart technology. The house is self-sufficient; drawing on renewable energy sources such as ground-source heating and solar panels to keep the inhabitants cosy, with heat recovery systems and a strict airtightness process ensuring little of this green energy goes to waste. Their client was overjoyed with their new home, stating: “To wake up each morning and experience the excellent craftsmanship that this family firm have been able to achieve is frankly astounding.”

This luxury new-build home is made using a steel frame and features its own cinema room, a green meadow roof and an external heated seating area for all-season dining. The ground floor offers a central viewing area which grants uninterrupted views from the front entrance right through to the rear garden, where a beautiful sculpture completes the stunning aesthetic. Mason Construction’s client was seeking to make this their retirement home, the master suite is therefore fitted with its own bathroom and walk-in dressing room on the ground floor and is accessible via a secretly detailed door in the cladding. Whole-house automation also makes this new-build a triumph in modern convenience technology.

Kisiel Group’s work on this project saw them demolish an old MOT test centre and construct seven new homes. Liaising with their client right from the outset of the project, the team navigated a series of technical challenges to reconfigure the ground floor, before creating the attractive brick façade using materials reclaimed from the old structure. The judges commented that the development was a great example of repurposing a site and the project was delivered “to a very high visual standard, which enhances the surroundings.” The team at Kisiel Group displayed impressive teamwork and communication throughout the build, winning high praise from their client who stated: “What a great bunch of people – friendly, knowledgeable, and always ready to respond quickly to meeting any challenges.”

This project was a new house that was designed by the client with input from an architect and structural design team. Cornerhouse were selected to complete the construction of this “forever home” because of the company’s outstanding client testimonials and references. The stunning new property features Flemish bond external brickwork, timber sliding sash windows and natural slate roof coverings as well as a "floating roof" over a duel bi-fold door to the kitchen. The client was clearly delighted with the outcome stating: “The completed house has exceeded our expectations and visitors praise the quality of the finish both inside and out”.

McKnight & Son Builders demolished an old Victorian farmhouse to build a stunning, modern family home. The building work took place in the middle of a fully functioning farm, and McKnight & Son Builders exercised great care in looking out for the welfare of the local livestock, as well as the preservation of several centuries-old trees which also occupied this site. Designed with sustainability and modern technology in-mind, the new home makes use of digitally controlled heat pumps and an integrated heat recovery system to maximise energy efficiency. Constructed using recycled materials to reduce waste, the judges described the finished product as a “stylish well-proportioned family home”.

Comprised of 15 traditionally constructed houses built in red brick with render panels, this infill development site by Alskea Contracts was described by the judges as “a first-class project”. Taking on the tricky process of implementing the site’s new water sanitation system and grappling with delays brought on by the pandemic, Alskea have delivered a beautiful selection of three and four-bed semi-detached and detached homes with driveways and both front and rear gardens. The streetscape aesthetic is pleasing and each of the homes has been built to a minimal carbon footprint representing a comprehensive, environmentally conscientious development any builder would be proud of.

G Ellison Builders demonstrated commitment to this project by undertaking specialist training in order to install the unusual, curved roof feature on this new build project on the site of an old barn. Designed to mirror the design of the former barn, the intriguing structure also features brickwork at the ground level with cedar boarding used on the first floor. G Ellison completed the works with the clients living on-site in caravans as the property continued to serve as a fully functioning farm meaning extra care had to be taken with regards to health and safety. The finished product delighted their client, who stated: “we couldn’t be any happier with the builder”.

This project saw the demolition of an existing bungalow and the construction of a new detached five-bedroom home. The new property features a spacious kitchen and living room space, as well as a separate study, dining room and office on the ground floor. With most of the bedrooms situated on the second floor, the third floor is home to an extensive games room and a bathroom, with all areas of the house benefiting from underfloor heating. Upon entry to the home, guests are greeted by a magnificent stone portico and thereafter a beautiful walnut staircase, setting the tone for a truly impressive house well worthy of the term “Master Build”.

This new build on the site of a demolished piggery saw H M Raitt & Sons combine period and modern products to produce a comfortable family home sympathetic to its rural setting. Careful collaboration between the architect, engineers and the client ensured a smooth working process and effective, punctual delivery of works. Their client was delighted with the result, stating:

This project saw Keigar Homes Ltd build five new homes on a site which was previously home to several dilapidated agricultural structures. Reclaiming materials from the old buildings, the team integrated what they could into the new homes in order to maintain a rustic aesthetic sympathetic to the local area. The judges noted how great care was taken at all times to ensure the safety of pupils attending the primary school opposite, and how the homes were well received by their new owners, with one stating they “would just like to say thank you to everyone involved with the build. It is a fantastic design."
