This renovation of a 300-year-old traditional thatched home included a spacious new bathroom bathed in natural light from the vaulted ceilings and velux windows. The bathroom renovation is complete with a shower, bathtub and dual sinks furnished with gorgeous porcelain tiles. Heating elements usually reserved for underfloor positioning have been installed in the walls in an innovative approach to optimising the space and draw energy from a ground-source heat pump. The wood panelling adds texture and warmth, completing a fine finish that welcomes you into the room. The judges were impressed by Bespoke Living Construction’s clear communication with the client and the wider community, ensuring a great working relationship and excellent customer satisfaction.

Faced with the challenges brought on by COVID-19, RMR Homes worked hard to implement  social distancing on sites and complete jobs, even with a reduced workforce. This meant furloughing staff, which was understandably difficult for some to deal with – but the team worked hard to support each during the difficult times, and thanks to their fantastic working relationships they were able to pull through. Despite the supply chain delays that have gripped the industry, RMR Homes went on to deliver high quality projects that have seen them secure several business awards recognising their fine work ethic and the value of their collaborative approach.

Mitchells Construction & Development’s work on this community centre saw them create inviting and accessible spaces for visitors of all ages. There are modern, accessible toilet facilities on the ground and first floors, and a new passenger lift means that the first-floor offices, meeting rooms and hall are now accessible to all. A new commercial kitchen allows the volunteer cooks - who prepare hundreds of free meals for elderly and homeless people each week - to increase their serving capacity and the variety of meals they can offer, cementing the new facility’s status as a beacon of hope and community for local residents.

This project saw the demolition of an existing bungalow and the construction of a new detached five-bedroom home. The new property features a spacious kitchen and living room space, as well as a separate study, dining room and office on the ground floor. With most of the bedrooms situated on the second floor, the third floor is home to an extensive games room and a bathroom, with all areas of the house benefiting from underfloor heating. Upon entry to the home, guests are greeted by a magnificent stone portico and thereafter a beautiful walnut staircase, setting the tone for a truly impressive house well worthy of the term “Master Build”.

Working to a maritime theme, this kitchen renovation project saw Bagshots install a raft of bespoke features including a central island, window seating, an oak table and benches for seating. Paying close attention to their client’s vision, the team pursued a traditional style incorporating 'old fashioned' frames around the cabinet doors combined with solid oak furniture. When creating the oak table and benches, they routed a pencil bead on the edges to match the existing fixtures, maintaining a consistent aesthetic throughout and delighting their client, who stated: “I was dreading the build, the disruption, the stress, but the reality was the opposite, it was exciting!”

The judges were hugely impressed by the sustainability credentials of this stunning contemporary addition to an historic thatched property. The works consisted of demolishing a garage and old extension to create a new single-storey version, as well as the full renovation of an 18^th century thatched cottage with a view to preserving the property’s rich character. The team took extensive measures to protect the thatched roof and to improve the property’s energy efficiency, whilst working to reduce waste by salvaging and reusing site materials. Their clients were over the moon, stating “Highly recommended - a great team to work with.”

This renovation project was comprised of a ground floor extension and bespoke remodelling of the kitchen and family bathroom. Hand-built by the RMR Homes team, the new kitchen cabinetry units were spray painted Ammonite; a colour specifically tailored to their client’s vision. Exposed brickwork has been combined with large concrete flooring slabs and a small TV snug to create a wonderful alfresco feel. In the new family bathroom there is more RMR handywork in the shape of handcrafted storage solutions and vanity units complete with Crittal screens. The project delighted their client, who stated: “We love our home and will continue to recommend this fab company time and again.”

Oakston Solutions Limited’s work on this stunning garden room was not without its challenges; situated in a vacant corner of their client’s sloped garden, access was never going to be easy. Nonetheless, this Master Builder personally designed and built an outstanding office space packed with creature comforts including air-conditioning, underfloor heating, cedar cladding, aluminium windows and doors, composite decking, glass balustrades, LED strip lights and more. Despite an ever-changing brief, this builder delivered above and beyond their client’s expectations, who stated:

“…nothing was too much trouble even though I changed my mind weekly. Couldn’t recommend Oakston highly enough.”

When Mitchells Construction & Development were contacted by an environmental rights campaigner looking to build their dream eco home, they rose to meet the challenge and overcame ground quality issues to delight their client. Located on a nature reserve and carefully designed to blend with and complement the surrounding area, the house makes use of sustainable features such as rainwater harvesting and recycled insulation material to ensure a harmonious relationship with mother earth. “I have a home for the future that uses minimal resources and is part of and aids its habitat” says the new owner, and we’re going green too – with envy!

Luke was nominated by a client who hired him for a home extension and disability adaptation, made more challenging by access issues presented by the site location. Training an apprentice throughout the project, Luke and his team showed great courtesy to the client and the neighbours, always checking in to make sure they were happy and to ask if they had any concerns. Luke’s commitment is clear from the client’s comments;

“The level of care and attention to not only for the build but the needs of our family were phenomenal. We... feel incredibly lucky that he came into our lives when he did”.
