Small Renovation Project

For excellent residential / domestic restorations, refurbishments or extensions including heritage projects valued at up to £75,000. 

Medium Renovation Project

For excellent residential / domestic restorations, refurbishments or extensions including heritage projects valued at over £75,000 but under £200,000.

Large Renovation Project

For excellent residential / domestic restorations, refurbishments or extensions including heritage projects valued at over £200,000.

Housebuilder Award

For housebuilders and developers demonstrating a strong commitment to building quality new homes, either as bespoke one-off properties or as part of a housing development.

Kitchen Project

An outstanding kitchen from a new build or renovation project.

Bathroom Project

An outstanding bathroom from a new build or renovation project.

Commercial or Public Sector Project

For an outstanding commercial building project (either a new build or refurbishment) OR outstanding public sector project (e.g. buildings used for health, leisure, sports, education, or community build initiative).

Sustainable Building Award

For green building projects that demonstrate commitment to reducing environmental impacts using a variety of innovative methods such as use of renewables and energy efficient systems; retrofit project; waste management practices; use of local and/or recycled materials; or through the application of innovative/Passivhaus design, materials, or technology.  This category is open to domestic and commercial projects including new builds and renovation projects of all sizes.

Please note the judges for this category are looking for an outstanding sustainable project. If you would like to submit a nomination with evidence that your company is acting sustainably (eg through business practices), please include this in a nomination for Business of the Year.

Overall Master Builder of the Year Winner

The overall winner is a standout project selected from the list of national winners for the following categories: Small Renovation Project, Medium Renovation Project, Large Renovation Project, Bathroom Project, Kitchen Project, Housebuilder Award, Commercial or Public Sector Project, and Sustainable Building Award.

Please note that Master Builders cannot nominate for this category directly.

Individuals and team categories

Apprentice of the Year

This award recognises an outstanding individual apprentice employed by a Master Builder company, who has demonstrated exceptional practical skills and commitment to their chosen trade.

Nominees must be working towards completing a construction apprenticeship programme or have finished their apprenticeship within the 12 months prior to 31 January 2025. The nominees can be full time, part time or flexible apprentices. Each nominee will be judged on what they have achieved in their individual time frame.  

An apprentice can be independently nominated by a client for this award.

 

Outstanding Builder of the Year

This award is presented to an individual or team working for a Master Builder company who consistently demonstrates exceptional skill, professionalism and dedication to their trade. This award celebrates their contribution to high-quality projects and their commitment to exceeding client expectations through exceptional customer service.

A builder or team can be independently nominated by a client for this award.

Business categories

Business of the Year

This award recognising a Master Builder company that demonstrates outstanding leadership and business management, and dedication to supporting clients.

Examples of business performance could include improved commercial relationships; business growth (financial management, client base, expansion, etc); customer management; innovative or sustainable business practices; etc.

Nominations must highlight achievements and challenges that the company has faced between 1 January 2023 and 1 January 2025.

Workplace Culture Award

This award recognises a Master Builder company that fosters a positive, inclusive, and supportive work environment for its employees.

Examples of positive workplace culture could include progress towards equality; diversity and fairness; staff or apprenticeship training initiatives; wellbeing; benefits and policies; empowering employees; promoting construction careers; community engagement etc.

Please note this category is only going to be awarded on a national level and will not be included in regional ceremonies in England or in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
