As part of our three-year framework agreement with Asda we were awarded the extension and refresh scheme at the Westwood store in West Belfast.
The project involved a full store refresh as well as an extension to increase the available sales floor area by 7,000ft2, updating all in store offerings in line with current corporate branding. The project involved a collaborative approach between our construction, refrigeration and fire and security divisions with the construction division acting as principal contractor.
The overall works covered all areas of the store including: extending the existing store in to a new retail unit that had been constructed next to the store; new main entrance and relocation of checkouts; replacement of all frozen, chilled and ambient cases; replacement and reconfiguration of all sales floor fixtures; installation of a full new George department as well as new Kiosk, Customer Service Desk, Click and Collect offer and Food to Go.
Key facts: We upgraded the refrigerant gas, fixtures and replaced the refrigeration with a minimum 10-year asset life expectancy. The full refurbishment and extension were carried out in a live trading store, maintaining full product availability for customers throughout. The project was featured in the Belfast Telegraph.

Our in-house M&E division delivered the M.E.P works for the new office extension built on to the side of the existing Muller factory. The aim of the extension was to provide a state-of-the-art office facility to house the Muller staff.
The M.E.P services package consisted of new lighting and power, data and fire systems as well as heating and AC works. The services were built into the existing M&E systems via the current plantroom and main switchboard.
All new containment and pipe work were installed to a high standard; the services being coordinated with the site team.
Key Facts: Our M&E team assisted with the design at the start of the project by recommending changes to certain aspects of the services installation. The distribution boards and bracketry were manufactured off site to enable an efficient and timely installation. The investment in the factory gives Muller’s Bellshill dairy the capacity to process more than 370million litres of fresh milk and cream each year.

Our in-house M&E division delivered the mechanical, electrical and plumbing services package for the new build Blairdardie Primary School in Glasgow, on behalf of main contractors BAM. A new fit for purpose, modern facility was built to replace the existing school as part of a £21m deal completed by Glasgow City Council to replace both Carntyne and Blairdardie Primary Schools.
The project involved a complete fit-out of the M.E.P services for the school including: LV distribution Lighting and power Fire and intruder detection systems LTHW Ventilation Above ground drainage Domestic water Sprinklers CHP BMS
Key facts: Our M&E division produced a programme to sequence the works to ensure the timely delivery and installation which involved first fix bracketry being made off site to push the works forward. Sustainable elements included: ‘Breathing Buildings’ installation which utilises fresh air in the Games Hall & Assembly areas area along with a CHP being installed within the plantroom. We provided community engagement during the project delivery by employing local labour and hiring more apprentices. We had input into the design by working alongside the M&E consultants and suggesting alternative materials for the sprinklers and HVAC fans as well as managing the Contractor Design Portions.
