Euro Tunnel Cafe Refit
Bagel Street Cafeteria and Passport Control
This project was completed for Eurotunnel and involved refurbishing a disused cafeteria and combining the cafeteria into the adjacent passport control office so that Coach passengers can enjoy snacks and refreshments whilst having their passport inspected. The Project had strict programme criteria and was completed on time and to budget.
Internal walls and service rooms were removed and the mechanical and electrical services within the room were relocated through alternative routes to provide a clear open space, Where the walls were removed natural stone tiles had to be stitched into the existing and the entire floor sanded and re polished to provide a seamless new natural stone tiled floor.
The original cafeteria was replaced with a self-service system of simple foods and drinks more suitable to the requirements of passing trade.

Waiting area for truckers
The building had been previously occupied by the UKBA as Offices. Part of HGT Contract was to establish new offices for UKBA on the ground floor.
Once the Ground Floor Offices were completed and the UKBA staff rehoused, then HGT stripped the 1st floor back to its shell.
The facilities provided for truckers included 10 pay as you go wet room showers, gents, Ladies and Disabled persons WC, A Laundry room.
All facilities had to be of a very robust build to withstand the constant use by truck drivers.
The mini cinema has Sky sport available and hence becomes very busy when International football is on.

Situated on a premier road of impressive homes in the favoured area of Temple Ewell, you cannot fail to appreciate the thought and attention to detail that has gone into creating this very stylish five bedroom detached home.
The ‘wow factor’ comes in a very contemporary form as you enter the ground floor with a well-proportioned living room and a 22ft kitchen/diner designed so you can eat whilst looking out through the bi-folding doors to the terrace, garden and the wonderful scenic countryside views beyond.
There is also a handy downstairs utility/cloakroom and on the first floor there are three bedrooms including the master with a full-length window to really appreciate the views and a luxurious size en suite, as well as the family bathroom.
There are two further good-sized bedrooms on the second floor. Outside the picture is very much complete with a gated block paved drive providing plenty of off-road parking and the good sized front lawned garden has very much a private feel to it so you really are in your own domain.

Planning constraints and location of the property within a traditional Kent village dictated that the design of the property had to match the surrounding properties, hence the bricks were sourced from a traditional handmade brick quarry and the timbers were produced by a local joinery company from detailed drawings supplied by the client.
The house was situated on a sloping site next to a cliff and surrounded trees that were to be retained, Making the groundwork’s and substructure particularly challenging.
Client Testimonial:
I do want to thank you for all you have done for me over the years. Our house is so lovely and I do appreciate your patience when I couldn’t make up my mind about changes and extras. I know it was a difficult site and the opposition from the locals didn’t help. Once completed though, it was admired by everyone.

The original building was a small pub called ‘The Victory’ that had been converted into a 2 bed house that had fallen into disrepair.
The project involved partial demolition, a ground floor extension for a kitchen dining room, a 1st floor conservatory, loft conversion and complete refurbishment.
‘I came across HGT Construction when I had an emergency maintenance issue on a Saturday afternoon in the busy Restaurant at the 24/7 Truck Park which I manage.
Regular suppliers could not help me and I was stuck. Something needed to be done and I envisaged an afternoon of phone calls not answered. The first company I came across was HGT Construction
I called in hope. John Sayers answered the phone (whilst he was away on holiday) and within a couple of hours my emergency was resolved. Brilliant service!
I have used HGT regularly since and have always found HGT to be flexible, reliable, professional and
competitively priced. The standard of work is excellent as is the attitude of the tradesmen themselves.
I would recommend HGT most highly to anyone needing building services.
Best regards

I chose HGT to carry out a major refurbishment of my property not because
their quote was the cheapest, although it was very competitive, but because
John took the time to listen to what I wanted to achieve and considered my
requirements carefully. Inevitably, as the build progressed, unforeseen issues
requiring further work came to light and after discussion of the situation John
always came up with a solution and a fair price for the additional works.
Similarly if I wished to make changes John was not only very helpful in
effecting the changes but also pro-active in making suggestions as he was
totally in-tune with my end goal. On the very rare occasions that something
was not done quite to instructions or my satisfaction John ensured that it was
re-done. We established an excellent working relationship of mutual respect
which was very important to me, a single lady, and I can honestly say that I
am delighted with the finished job. Furthermore, and very importantly, John is
highly reliable and he and his workers were always on-site when expected but
on the few occasions that they were unable to be there John always
contacted me to inform me of this and they always returned the following day
to continue the work. The build took some months to complete and John
always respected the scheduled site meetings as well as meeting with me on
an “ad hoc” basis whenever necessary. I can sincerely say that I would
recommend HGT to anyone who has building needs no matter how large or
small as the job will be done to the client’s satisfaction and within the agreed
time limits.

We recently selected HGT to complete our complete house renovation which
consisted of a 3 month programme including a loft conversion, new stairwells,
converting an integrated garage, rendering externally, fitting new windows and
decorating.
Having just completed the build we have been impressed with the quality
of the work and the team that carried it out. John was regularly present and always
available on the phone to update us with progress and the team were professional,
friendly and trustworthy. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend or use HGT for future
projects.

I cannot believe how time has flown by – we were over in June to see the house.
We are absolutely delighted with how things have turned out and the work that you and your team have completed has resulted in a superb improvement to our home.
After over 170 years since the house was built and the various improvements over time, the house finally feels complete.
Thanks to HGT for working with us on this project – strange to think this has all been done without actually meeting!
I hope that one day we will meet in person and I can thank you for a job well done.
Regards,
Adam

The project was at the Dover Western Docks and consisted of refurbishing 400m2 UKBA offices; occupied offices had to have new inner offices and welfare facilities built whilst the UKBA carried on
normal 24 hour 365 days a week working practices. HGT programmed there works so that any disruptive works were completed a night or weekends. Once these offices were fully prepared the
UKBA then moved out of there 1st floor offices which provided the empty unit to install the Truck stop Services.
This project was a design and build project where HGT provided a design concept developed by there in house design team and created via our extensive experience of design and development of Truck top Services and office design and fit out projects. The project consisted of cinema room, shop, cafeteria, rest rooms, 8 shower wet rooms, male female toilets and European toilet facilities.
On completion Rob Hardy the general manager of Motis when asked would you use HGT again stated yes 100%. ‘HGT were efficient, helpful and informative throughout the entire build. This was a large contract for us and using HGT meant that we could leave it to them and not employ additional resources to manage or monitor the project.
