We have recently completed this beautiful renovation and extension project in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. Our clients decided they wanted to upgrade their beloved cottage to increase the living space, and create additional light. We stripped out the entire cottage and built a wrap-around extension to add a dining area, additional bedroom, shower room, utility and hall. Externally, we built a new garage and landscaped the outdoor space to create a large patio garden. 

The property was extensively insulated and bathroom and kitchen fittings were of the highest quality. Several features were added, such as the exposed stone wall in the kitchen and a first floor terrace to reflect and maximise its rural setting. The end result is a warm and welcoming home fit for the 21st century.

Tho owners of this 19th century property wanted to add a contemporary extension to create a large, light filled space suitable for family living that connected the living space to the garden. Existing outbuildings and a small extension were demolished to accommodate a large contemporary area of around 100 square metres to house a new kitchen diner, sitting room and boot room. The work involved extensive digging out, and the pouring of a large slab foundation before the structure could be built.

The clients are delighted with their energy efficient extension, and we were very proud to win an FMB Award for this project- Best Large Renovation Project for the Northern Counties in the 2023 awards. 

When our clients purchased Swale Cottage, it was a three bedroom Georgian cottage with a range of outbuildings set in an acre of land in the centre of a market town. Although charming, the house was in need of updating. The clients decided to demolish the outbuildings to create a large contemporary extension, designed to increase the lower ground floor living area.

The clients had a strong idea of what they wanted to achieve and worked closely with a local architect to design a structure that provided a complete contrast to the existing cottage. Influenced by modern European style, the clients were determined to seamlessly blend the garden and living space, and specified a structure with extensive amounts of glass, and as much lateral living as possible to future-proof it for their needs and create a light-filled modern family home.
