These houses were built for the government’s affordable housing scheme in 2012. This infill plot was left empty by the original developers due to a disused mine shaft as they said it wasn't possible to build on it. We took the project on, capped the mineshaft and installed specialist raft foundations. The raft contained 4 tons of structural steel encased with 86 cubic meters of reinforced concrete. The houses were also built under the code for sustainable homes and reached code 5 due to plenty of insulation and the heating system being fed by air source heat pumps. All part of the renewable energy scheme. The new owners are loving the low cost heating bills.

Oak Lodge was an eco-house built in timber frame construction for a long term client Dr Cook. We took great effort in bringing this project up to a very high standard with extra insulation, solar hot water feeding the underfloor heating system which was connected to a log burner with a back boiler for the winter months. A heat recovery ventilation system was fitted along with central vacuum unit. This gave the house a real feel of comfort and reached an energy rating B on completion. The oak beams where all hand carved on site for a bespoke fit, holding up a gorgeous rosemary tiled roof to give the house a cottage feel on the outside. Inside was a bit more modern with contemporary bathroom, en suite wet room, downstairs shower room and modern German kitchen with Corian moulded worktops. This was built on specialist piled foundations supporting a reinforced concrete ring beam due to past mining activity in the surrounding area.
