Being a listed property, all materials had to match … Read more On behalf of our clients, JDL were instructed to carry out the essential repairs to a listed property in Hitchin, Herts.Being a listed property, all materials had to match original as close as possible. Works included
- Making safe the original wall with temporary props.- Removing the brickwork and rotten timber beams. Replacement brickwork and new oak beams connected with existing.- New oak sole and roof beams, new floor joists and replacement flooring.- New plastering with lime and horsehair plaster. Ceiling replaced using oak laths and 3 coat lime plaster.- Decoration throughout.
Being a first floor flat above a busy beauty salon, the works had to be carefully planned and executed liaising with all clients and tenants through the complete process.
A tough but very successful project completed. A full testament to the hard working team that we have. Read less

As with all … Read more As part of our continued partnership with local property devlopers, here we refurbished both male and female WC's in a 1900's building in Hitchin, Hertfordshire.As with all old buildings, this project came with many issues previously covered including poor electrics, damp walls and broken drainage. Managing and carrying the complete project, JDL carried out the following works
- Full strip out of both male and female toilet blocks.
- Complete new drainage systems connected into the main sewers
- Removal of damp plaster and re plastered with new waterproof render
- Installation of new modern toilets and basins.
- Tiled throughout
- New LED lighting, storage heaters and timer switches.
- Full decoration
- Full steam clean

Within just 7 days, our in house contractors completely removed and disposed of the existing wall, excavated and concreted a new foundation and rebuilt the 1900 brick wall. The wall was built using English bond, and built using red engineering bricks making it solid and protected from the elements. Read less

On behalf of Rapleys LLP and Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation, this unit was left in a terrible state by the previous tennants.Applying a quick lead in time and 4 weeks on site, this project was turned around in time for the new tennants to move in to keep business flowing.

The internal refurbishment … Read more JDL were awarded the contract to carry out the small extension and landscaping works on behalf of charity based Alice Coralie Glyn Homes.The internal refurbishment consisted of removing the existing window to form new french doors, adding new electrical points and lights, extending the main bedroom and full decoration throughout.
Externally, removal of the trees and bushes made way for a new brick built planter, raised patio area and new steps that lead to the lower patio area. Difficult access and elderly neighbours meant we had to manage this project carefully to cause minimul disruption which was acheived. Read less
