We are a modern Isle of Wight based refurbishment company with 20 years’ experience in the trade, accredited with the Federation of Master Builders and Trustmark: we offer Government Endorsed Quality. We are an authorised Green Homes Grant installer, and are happy to help you with accessing …
Our new house needed major renovations before we could move in: opening up an interior wall, installing a new kitchen & bathroom, heating work, wiring, plastering, fixes and levelling to the floors, widening and installing a large window and many more issues big and small, all while we were living 80 miles away.
We were so lucky to find Joe and his team at Mackenzie Refurbishment to manage the project and carry it out with the best communication, hard work, problem solving and friendliness that we could have asked for. Wholeheartedly recommended.

Recently we had wall insulation from Mckenzie Refurbishment IOW. Fantastic service !
We can not fault the company. Good service and constant communication through out, keeping us updated from applying for the Go Green Government Grant for our home eco improvement. The builders were amazing ! turned up on time on the day they said they would, so professional, lovely job and tidied and cleaned up after too.
10 out of 10 ! all round for the whole team ! This company deserves to be the number 1 on the Island for all your eco home improvements.
Would be happy to recommend them !

I would like to give a glowing review on the work Joe did in my home.
He is easy to talk to and did a clean speedy job on my loft and underfloor insulation.
Highly recommend

When in 2016 we moved to Ventnor from the mainland we knew no reliable tradesmen, but from wide experience I knew there were essential faults to our 180ish-year-old property. Our early experience here of replacing boiler, kitchen etc was chequered.
When we then uncovered the extent of the degradation of what holds up the 30+degree hill that is our back garden, we were pleased to be introduced to Joe Mackenzie whose team first took down a condemned (steep and massive) boundary stone wall on time and within cost. Having stabilised the boundary, further works involved rebuilding retaining walls, building terraced gardens (involving installing RSJ verticals and sleeper walls), new blockwork stairways, underpinning a stone wall supporting the decking 30ft above the house groundfloor level, installing a 6m gabion across the upper garden, with associated footings, landings and stairways; and completing a new complex timber fence to re-form the boundary.
He later supplied and supervised manpower to remove our existing 6m-wide rear extension and install a new extension on a considerably larger footprint at considerably lower level (to match existing floorlevels) including plumbing and electrical tradespeople, plus plastering, tiling, decorating etc.
We calculate that these tasks involved moving at least 140 tons of material (inward plus outward). At several points, the works required considerable skill and delicacy.
At all times Joe has been attentive, co-operative, and flexible: this was imperative as much of the job was essentially sequential. His attention to the precise difficulties of the High Street location and limited storage space on site has always been impressive, as has his selection and disposition of manpower and materials.
We would not hesitate to recommend him as contractor to any comer.

Mackenzies did a great job of installing internal wall insulation and an acoustic ceiling in the bedroom of our Victorian apartment. Made a massive difference to the noise from upstairs, and the room is so much warmer.
Joe and the team were professional, efficient and polite - and cleaned up brilliantly afterwards - what more could you ask for?
