He has been a pleasure to mentor and all his peers speak very highly of him. Throughout he has displayed a first class attitude and a desire to achieve and complete his Apprenticeship. He has worked on many prestigious projects in and around London and realises the kudos that this brings to say 'I worked on that building', and where potentially thousands and thousands will see his workmanship. Joseph is currently working on a high end residential project in central London, working alongside one of our highly skilled wallcoverings operative, hanging very expensive wall paper. Joseph too in time would like to be able to hand high end wall covering, wide vinyls and digital wallpaper and is using this opportunity to learn from his mentor.

You cannot separate them. It would be so unfair. They have set up a training school in their business and over the last few years have put 627 mostly young people through pre-employment training at their own cost. This is amazing and truly outstanding. Taking young people from Probation, Prison, rehab, Crisis Centres and literally off the street. What they are doing with no outside funding is remarkable. Over a three year period we … Read more We undertook internal and external refurbishment of the 5* Savoy Hotel, one of the most ambitious hotel restorations in British history. Over a three year period we refurbished almost 270 guestrooms as well as all the associated communal areas. The rooms were decorated in either a traditional style with painted paneled walls, or an Art Deco style, using bespoke heavy duty wall coverings. It was such an honour to be invited to your K&M Awards last Friday and it was a very special event. Kate and I met interesting people, felt really included and loved learning more about the history of your apprenticeship training and the academy. It was genuinely heart-warming to meet the apprentices and see them get their awards and we found the presentation about the Institute for Apprenticeships really interesting. There has been so much box ticking around this subject over the years, but you have always stood by your vision and cut through the nonsense. The number of lives you will have influenced for the better is fantastic, and of course it’s not just the apprentices themselves, but the people they are in contact with and the families they may have in the future. The benefit of what you start quietly grows and grows.

I think what struck me the most was the absolute admiration and respect the entire K&M team have for each other. In all the organisations I’ve worked for or with, I have never witnessed it at such a level. With a team like that, success comes naturally and the culture is very much part of the reason the learners you work with do so well.

I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and was so glad to see you all at K&M reflect and celebrate your milestones, outstanding work and achievements by your staff and trainees over the years. The stories were so empowering and it was so good to hear from those whose lives K&M have touched over the years.

The Awards highlighted the culture of togetherness amongst the staff and the drive from top to bottom to produce quality. For an SME to have so many staff receiving 30 & 15 yearlong service awards it highlighted the culture and quality of K&M as an organisation. Talent, commitment and loyalty were at the fore front of the K&M awards, highlighting the culture and quality of the organisation.
