This is the second time that we have used Mark Padgham’s services and we have been completely delighted with the process from beginning to end on both occasions. This current job was to replace what had been failed replacements of originally Victorian soffit boards on our stable block, by others. Unsuitable wood had been used by the previous contractor making the replacement, which was therefore deteriorating very rapidly. Mark was chosen because we knew that he would make an excellent job of the curved profile boards in a good quality hardwood. Mark researched the available timber solutions that were available and came up with an answer that offered a much longer design lifespan at a very competitive cost. The whole progress of the work, which involved liaison with neighbours around the stable block was handled very effectively by Mark and he was complimented by one of these people on his expertise and cooperative manner. The timber cutting and shaping, all the priming and almost all of the painting was done off site in Mark’s workshop. This meant that the time spent on site was minimised making the on site work very efficient and effective. The quality of the finished product and its careful fixing to the building is first class. These soffit boards are a major design feature of the stable block. The shaping and the paint finish is first class. The boards at both ends of the building totally lift the appearance of the whole building. Mark and his co-worker were excellent throughout and have produced an appealing and long lasting solution.
