After a telephone inquiry about a collapsing floor, our survey found dry rot was the culprit. Water penetrating into the sub floor by a blocked gully was the cause of the out break.
Wet rot
A new path construction a few years ago blocked up this rooms sub floor ventilators causing an attack of wet rot to the wall plate and joists.
Rubble in cavity
We had a request by a client to look at a wall for rising damp. Upon inspection we could see the original dpc, so we decided to cut a few bricks out to see if there was rubble in the cavity. As you can see there was loads.
Rising Damp and new floors
Had to excavate the floors in this house because there was nothing but soil directly under the clay tiles. Also injected a chemical damp course and carried out the necessary replastering works.
Penetrating damp
Rain penetrating through the exterior render caused damage to both the internal and external plasterwork. The external plasterwork was replastered with lime render to help the structural breathe.
Rising Damp
This terraced house had rising damp, the outside walls were 500mm thick stonework.
Dry Rot
In this bungalow the dry rot had grown throughout all the floors and walls reaching up to the timber window lintels and in one room had actually reached the wall plate at the roof level.
Renew brick chimney
Rain was penetrating through this chimney, it was to far gone to save. We removed the chimney stack and installed a lead tray before rebuilding with new bricks.
