A refurbishment of a historical local property built by well known Ironmonger, Cooper Kitchen in the 1800s. The property stayed as a hardware shop until finally going up for sale in 2019. The main objective was to try and help revive life into a failing town centre and hopefully encourage other businesses to take a chance. Another was to refurbish the building in keeping with its important local history and keep as many features as possible while making it a warm, welcome place for local people to meet and when the restaurant upstairs opened, to eat.
Our architect listened to what we wanted to achieve and came up with the layout. This was changed slightly a couple of times along the way to fit in with planning constraints. It was also a real result of team work along the way with everyone at Rhodes Joinery & Building Services contributing ideas.
