As many members are aware FMB, lobbies hard across NI and the wider UK for a properly funded retrofit strategy.

FMB NI, over the last two years, have been working with Belfast City Council, which will see its energy strategy proposals released in September. The Belfast Retrofit Hub has championed the need for contractors to be front and centre of any regeneration programs for the City and Region.

How do you market green heating and insulation products safely to clients?

As technology develops, we appreciate many members will be using advanced products on projects in the next few years. There will be a need to consider manufacturers guidelines, recommendations and research.

Advice from the Competition and Markets Authority

To assist firms, following a public consultation, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) for NI, has published its compliance advice for businesses marketing green heating and insulation products to consumers.

The advice is designed to help businesses understand and comply with their consumer legal obligations regarding:

  • Providing upfront (headline) price information on websites and other marketing channels.
  • Making claims about products in their marketing.

Alongside the compliance advice, they have also produced some short videos and ‘at-a-glance’ checklists to help businesses to quickly and easily understand how our advice applies to their own marketing practices.
