When you're working with a smaller space it's important to maximise every room. This can be a tricky balancing act between adding stylistic touches and not wanting to compromise on space and usuability. Using smaller dining furniture
Going for a smaller dining table and chairs doesn't mean you have to skimp on style, and with more room for family and friends to manoeuvre there's a better chance they'll join you for a bite, a game or just a friendly chat.
Mirror, mirror on the wall
This may be one of the oldest tricks in the interior design book, but it's still very much the case that adding a mirror to a small space can give the illusion of greater space. Needless to say, it's also a welcome touch in bathrooms or in the hallway for guests heading in or out.
Use wall-mounted fixtures
Draws, media consoles and book cases can be major space invaders in smaller homes - mounting them on or within a wall can free up the floor and encourage guests to explore.
Accessorise
Adding a multitude of miniature masterpieces to a small space can help it seem busier and bigger. Provided the overall colour scheme isn't dominated by one much larger or more vibrant accessory, these smaller items can really blend together to create wonderful overall effect.
Glass/clear partitions
Particularly attractive in bathroom spaces, these give the room an open feel even and also help make the most of the light available - just make sure the door is locked when you head in for a shower!
