A family-run company specialising in bespoke kitchens, has taken home the title of best Kitchen Project for the stylish renovation of a family kitchen with a maritime twist.
Bagshots Ltd were crowned the winners at the Federation of Master Builders’ Master Builder Awards, hosted online on September 24th by TV presenter and all-round building enthusiast Nick Knowles.
The awards recognise building excellence, quality craftsmanship, and exceptional customer service, and are run by the Federation of Master Builders, the largest trade association in the UK construction sector which is this year celebrating its 80th anniversary.
Based on the Isle of Wight, Bagshots Ltd secured their win with the creation of a luxurious and bespoke kitchen, kept true to the traditional feel of the property while cleverly incorporating the client’s maritime background into the design.
The project involved installing a fresh kitchen, including an island and window seating in the form of an oak table and benches. In doing so, the building firm successfully created a high-quality and cosy family space, which the client reported to have “completely and utterly transformed” how their family lived in their home.
Delivering high quality customer service, Bagshots Ltd designed every aspect of the project in 3D visuals. This allowed the building firm to work intricately with their client on colour choices, lighting and furniture selections. There was even the opportunity for the client to walk around their upcoming kitchen in virtual reality ahead of its completion.
Frank Deer, Director of winning firm, Bagshots Ltd, said: “We’re very excited to win. It will have a major impact for our business. The client used to be a skipper of a vintage yacht that used to sale around the world and wanted something maritime, so we introduced a scarf beam into the kitchen like you’d see on an old yacht.”
Jason Orme, Editorial Director at Homebuilding and Renovating Magazine, said: “This project was the outstanding one for us because we had to really recognise the great relationship between the builder and the client. That’s where things really happen in terms of kitchen design where you’ve got an engaged client and an engaged builder willing to push them the extra mile.”
Ian Mcllwee, Chief Executive for Finishes and Interiors Sector, said: “Construction in our homes is so personal to us. To see that manifested through a project and to see a client so clearly delighted just made this project jump out.”
