Homes as Energy Systems (HaES) is a European Regional Development Fund funded project in Greater Manchester that seeks to demonstrate how all homes could be transformed to become an active part of the UK’s energy system rather than a perpetual drain on it. The aim of this project is to combine energy generation and storage technologies with insulation and other energy efficiency measures to reduce energy demand. RetrofitWorks is working with 20 households to get their homes as near to zero carbon as possible, with a budget of £50k per property. Considerable work has already been carried out to understand the properties and the retrofit needs. Funding is in place and each retrofit project has to be completed by the end of 2022.
We are now looking to partner with suitably experienced and qualified contractors who can design, supply and install energy efficiency measures. The works specification and general requirements that bidders must meet are listed in a separate Specification Document.
We are seeking the following capabilities:
- General Builders
- External Wall Insulation specialists*
- Internal Wall Insulation specialists*
- Solar PV and battery installers*
- Heat Pump installers*
- Domestic ventilation specialists*
- High performance windows and door installers*
(*must provide appropriate system warranties)
All participating contractors and installers will be vetted prior to the bidding process (with the option of becoming a member of the RetrofitWorks cooperative).
